Myanmar, Yangon eye hospital 2016

Our second mission took place in cooperation with chief physician Prof Tin Win and his entire team at the Yangon Eye Hospital (YEH) in Myanmar, the largest public eye hospital in the country. In Myanmar, we added another aspect to the foundation’s purpose of surgically restoring sight to those affected, coupled with training local staff. Thanks to the support of Oertli Instrumente AG, we were able to update the hospital’s equipment and instruct the local surgical nurses on the use of the individual instruments. The project became a hybrid success because, in addition to the patients treated, the EYH and its medical staff were able to benefit from it to the same extent.
